Hyperemesis Gravidarum (HG) – Find Help & Support
Hyperemesis Gravidarum (HG) is a pregnancy condition that is defined by extreme nausea and vomiting, dehydration, and malnutrition. Hyperemesis can lead to organ failure and rarely death. Hyperemesis sufferers often are left with psychological disorders such as PTSD, depression and anxiety disorders. Organizations such as HelpHer are leaders in the research of this condition but unfortunately there are no known causes or treatments.
Many obstetrician offices are not equipped with the knowledge of this condition and often treat it as regular morning sickness. This can leave HG sufferers feeling frustrated, hopeless, and scared. A lot of women are not properly treated and suffer throughout their pregnancies without medicinal intervention. The lack of knowledge leaves the women and children at risk.

In 2002, the HelpHer organization wanted to change that. The organization was created by HG survivors and they set out on a mission to spread knowledge of the condition and to start extensive research. Although there are no known causes or permanent treatment options they have compiled a world-wide list of HG-friendly obstetricians that understand and can treat the condition properly.
Hyperemesis Gravidarum – (HG) Facebook Group
Several years later, in November 2011, a group formed on Facebook to create a community of Hyperemesis sufferers for help and support. When the group started it had 38 members. As of January 2018 it has 11,845 members and is still growing. The community consists of members world-wide and the love and respect the members give each other is amazing. A lot of ladies in the group have built solid relationships and the group as a whole has formed a strong support system. This group is especially wonderful for women that don’t have the support they need at their doctor’s office or at home. They can find help and support by chatting with members within the group. Everyone has a personal story to share, advice to get through the struggles of having HG, has a shoulder to lean on during the most difficult time of their pregnancy. The group is called Hyperemesis Gravidarum – (HG). You can join the group by clicking this link.
